Pre-Telegraphy

In this module, we look at what the pre-telegraphic era, based on the fundamental break in information technology brought about by Morse’s telegraph. Early oral and written forms of communication will be explored for their connections to issues like time, space, and culture.

This section will share how music and song were provided as a form of communication for African slaves in North America under the following topics:
